Families that come to us for help may be isolated; unconfident in their parenting; have disabled children or disabilities of their own; experiencing mental health difficulties; have poor housing or any number of other problems around being a parent. We aim to offer friendship and emotional and practical support to these families so that they can thrive. This is done through offering a volunteer who will visit them at home once a week or through our support groups where parents support each other
How does your charity/project support the local community?
The families that we help tell us we make a massive difference to their lives: giving them confidence to parent well and be a more active member of their community; helping their children to develop and thrive; enabling them to do things and go places that they would not be able to manage alone.
What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?
This money would be used to train new volunteers to support families in their homes and to support the group facilitator who runs the groups.
