Samuel's Childrens Charity
Raising Awareness, Raising Money and Raising Smiles.
What does your charity/project do?
We provide short breaks days out treats & things that help bring families together during the time of a childs cancer journey. From our own experience we try & alleviate the separation of parents & siblings during a childs treatment by providing them with much needed family time away from hospitals or by providing things for the child that helps themduring their treatment which includes long hospital admissions & or appointments on a regular basis. We also provide emotional & practical advice
How does your charity/project support the local community?
We are raising awareness of childhood cancer into our local community and providing much needed help to the families of children in our local area that have been diagnosed. We also provide emotional and practical support to the families from our first hand experience of childhood cancer.
What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?
We would us the Award to set up a weekly coffee morning for parents to share stories problems and advice with the opportunity for the children with cancer to meet others in the same situation. There is not a local service like this & is much wanted by local families. There are these sorts of groups based around main hospitals in London but it is not practical to attend these. Parents feel alone & isolated sometimes & the opportunity for all the family to meet others in the same situation would help them greatly.
