Dynamic, centre for children and young people with disabilities
To provide leisure, recreational, play and social activites for children and young people with all manner of disabilities, complex needs and lifelimiting illness thus providing an element of respite for parents and carers.
What does your charity/project do?
Over 100 children and young people with all manner of disabilities attend Dynamic groups weekly during the year supported by staff, volunteers an a trained nurse when required. These children due to their disabilities are unable to access mainstream sessions. We have a waiting list for our services being the only facility in the area and desperately need to move to a larger purpose built premises. We are are unique resource and greatly valued by the parents carers and families.
How does your charity/project support the local community?
Dynamic is the only facility of its kind in the community of Wrexham. We aim to support the integration of disabled children and young people into their own communities and enable them to have a better quality of life and to contribute to society when and how they are able. Many of our young people are capable of good integration with suppport and eventually independently after skills to do so have been built.
What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?
Dynamic constantly has to fundraise to continue its work in the community. We would use the grant in order to ensure that we could continue the valuable work with the children alongside a longterm aim to purchase a purpose built building to ensure a quality service into the future. These children deserve the very best and that is what we intend to provide for them into the future. Without Dynamic's support many of our families would struggle to cope and even breakdown.
