We are a volunteer all Terrain Rescue Team working in partnership with Cumbria Fire & Rescue. We specialise in quicksand rescue, and support them with our Hagglund BV206 all terrain amphibious rescue vehicles, 4x4's and trained personnel. We also assist the Coastguard, Police, Ambulance Service and First Responders on and around the 'unique' Morecambe Bay, Lake District, Cumbria and Lancashire area.
How does your charity/project support the local community?
Our team works in the local community by both raising the awareness of safety issues in and around the dangerous Morecambe area by visiting local Schools and community groups. More importantly than the we are available 24 hours a day to support Police, Coastguard and Fire & Rescue teams to protect life both human and animal. This happens both locally around Morecambe Bay. But also further afield for Flood and Moorland fire support.
What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?
The 6,000 pounds would be used to purchase 7 dry suits (£2800). Swift Water rescue training for 5 team members (£1500). and to purchase 6 additional ICOM M-87 Handheld VHF Radios (£1680) this would give us the additional equipments/training requirements to meet the DEFRA Type C team typing for Flood Response teams
