The Healthy Villages project aims to develop local vibrant villages across rural Cearphilly through community participation and engagement in a variety of healthy initiatives. This project works in the local area of Caerphilly Borough only.
What does your charity/project do?
Groundwork Caerphilly is an independent Charity which aims to improve the physical environment for residents of Caerphilly County Borough along with improving people’s lives through a variety of activities. Since its conception in 1990, the organisation has gone on to deliver environmental, social and economic regeneration initiatives within the county, through community participation and engagement.
How does your charity/project support the local community?
Groundwork Caerphilly manages a projectcalled Healthy Villages. The Healthy Villages team aims to develop vibrant villages across the rural wards of Caerphilly through community participation and engagement in a variety of healthy initiatives. The project intention is to work with communities to improve comunity members' physical and mental health, whilst fostering a greater community pride and making the natural and build environment of the community 'healthier'.
What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?
The programme started in March 2011 and will run until Sept 2013. Match funding is required to ensure the project can reach all communities within its remit. The Healthy Villages team will deliver a minimum of 50 projects throughout the rural wards of Caerphilly. The CommunityForce award would be used to ensure that all aspects of the programme including project delivery, marketing, salaries of the project team and equipment needed to deliver each project.
