The Community Arts & Music Project (TCAMP)

TCAMP business card and logo

We educate young people and children of all abilities through performing arts workshops free of charge. Encompassing everything from making masks and stage props to recording young local vocal talent. Our weekly workshops in dance, drama, art and music, are invaluable to the children and young people in Bournemouth. We regularly put on shows for the public to come and enjoy with the local community getting involved in all spects of organising a show. Through the proceeds of our shows we have raised money for other good local causes such as Poole Hospital Rheumatology Dept. This project helps children with a variety of disabilities and has proven that in cases with the right support they can overcome some of their barriers by gaining more self confidence and self esteem. The children recently performed in the Winton Carnival procession and danced in the rain at Muscliff Fun Day - nothing stops them. On Thursday 28th July we raised funds at Bournemouth Festival (Meyrick Park) by promoting our work through our stall which provides fun side show games for all the family.

"Dancer required with experience of Street and other modern styles. We do not require teaching qualifications but an enthusiasm and passion for dance is preferable. You would coach and help young children 5- 16 yrs of abilities. "

What does your charity/project do?

We educate young people and children through performing arts. Encompassing everything from making masks and stage props to recording young vocal talent, all elements of dance, drama workshops and regularly out on shows for the oublic to come and enjoy. Recently the children performed in the Winton Carnival procession and danced in the rain at Muscliff Fun Day. On thursday 28th we raised funds at Bournemouth Festival by promoting our work and fun side show games.

How does your charity/project support the local community?

We engage the community not only by putting on performances for the public to come and enjoy, but invite & train local volunteers to get involved with our productions and learn various aspects of stagecraft. Whether someone wishes to help and learn about theatre lighting, sound, get involved backstage with makeup and costumes to stage management, our shows have a real community feel about them. This helps people improve their self confidence and self esteem among many positives.

What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?

This money would make a huge difference and allow us to develop music technology workshops for the children, young people and community. To provide portable dance mirrors for the children and young people and provide art materials for the children and young people to help develop our stagecraft courses. As our services are free to the community this would also guarantee hall hire for the next 3/4 years. This would also make available new volunteering positions and raise our profile.
