Project

We want to create an event that promotes local talent creating a unique trail of art work through the town. In this period we will be hosting events to promote art to the wider community and encouraging people of all ages and ability to take part.

What does your charity/project do?

We have opened a community art gallery specifically for local artists and work hard to promote their talent. We also run art affordable art classes. The community are very involved in shaping the classes we offer and in participation. We realise that there is a financial barrier to being able to explore art and we aim to help remove this. The community will be actively participating and by doing so will help restore their towns vitality.

How does your charity/project support the local community?

The project is about raising awareness of art and embracing the history of our town and promoting it. Along with the events it will bring visitors and an economic benefit, social benefit and give a platform for our local artists to promote their work. It will also expand the horizons of many people in the community and offer volunteering and possible employment opportunities. We want to encourage all ages to participate in art and give them the change also to view work and be inspired.

What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?

We would use the money to promote and create the project 'a summer of art' trail and to hire venues for events and contribute towards the materials needed to make the project a reality. If we are successful it will greatly benefit the community in the whole area and firmly put Sudbury on the art map. We hope that it could become an annual event.
