"We need stewards at our events and helpers for marketing and promotion of our community events. If you have film-making skills or would like to learn then we need you to help out on our workshops. If you dont have a CRB we can get one for you. Thanks"

1. We run film making workshops for young people. The film-making process allows them to share ideas, learn a new skill and do something positive for themselves and their peers. We have been doing this for over three years but still many people miss out. 2. We also run an open air film festival for families all over Shepway and Dover. Families and friends choose the films they would most like to see and we screen it. We believe a joyful shared experience makes for a better community.
How does your charity/project support the local community?
Young people on our workshops get to learn new transferable skills that they get to use in their relationships at home, in education and in future workplaces. It also makes them self aware and aware of others. The films that are made end up being screened at our Freedayz events. This gives the community a chance to see their hard work. It is great for their self esteem but it is also great for the community to see young people doing something positive and sharing. Something you don’t see everyday.
What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?
With £6,000 we would buy the following Cameras, lights and sound equipment Money towards a screen a new screen The cameras will mean that we can work with more young people and allow them to get a more film like experience. The screen will enable us to screen more of their films to a wider audience. We will also be able to work with local charities/project and help them with fundraising by providing film screenings in any location. At present we there are lots of places we can not screen in.
