Llanelli Sea Cadets

Boys Rowing Team in Training!

We are a youth organisation with over 75% of the children coming from broken homes or having a special need. We train children in a huge amount of activities both on water and on land. We train young children to become respectable adults.

What does your charity/project do?

We partake in sailing, rowing, powerboating, and other water sports, but also train in first aid, personal responsiblity, community work, charity fundraising, and things like cooking, cleaning, ironing etc. We help out locally and attend many local community events, acting as safety, or marshalls. We teach out children respect and discipline and give them fun and many rewards that they would not normally get in life.

How does your charity/project support the local community?

We keep children off the streets at least twice a week and on weekends. We teach respect, social awareness and community spirit. We encourage our children to help others. many come from broken homes and are socially deprived, we help them become part of a team. We help fundraise within the community when asked by other projects and always help where we can at civic events. We pride ourselves in being a big part of the community for now nearly 70 years.

What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for?

We are hoping to modernise our equipment and classrooms by making our building a lot safer, improving classroom facilities and offering sleep over facilities. We could upgrade three classrooms and restore one other. We will invest in specialist training equipment for children with special needs. We will also buy a safety boat for our watertraining.
